Pinkerton took home its second Division I state title in three seasons, and the Astros were well represented as New Hampshire announced it’s All-State boys basketball teams this week.
Do-it-all point guard Wilson Youssef was Pinkerton’s representative on the All-Division I first team. It was the latest honor for the breakout senior, who didn’t make the varsity team until his junior year and was a role player last winter.
High-scoring sophomore guard Josh Phanor, who tallied a game-high 25 points in the state championship game win over Trinity, and four-year varsity force Brady Sullivan — who scored 23 points in the title game — were named to the second team. Pinkerton coach Mike Dunham was named Division I Coach of the Year.
Youssef was quick to credit the entire roster for the championship run.
“Our chemistry was amazing this year,” said Youssef. “We are all close friends off the court, and on the court we all work so well together. We all do different things so well. Everyone has a different aspect of the game that they bring, and it all blends so well together.”
State finalist Pelham had three players named All-Division II.
Go-to 6-foot-4 forward Brady Hegan was named to the All-Division II first team, while front-court mate Luke Estell was name to the second team and guard Brady O’Connor was picked as an honorable mention. Python two-sport wiz Osinachi “Nachi” Nwabueze — who was the Division II state champion in track in the long jump this winter — was named to the Division II All-Defensive team.
