THOMASVILLE- British bandleader and vocalist Alex Mendham brings the glitz and glamour of the 1920s and ‘30s to Thomasville next week as part of Thomasville Entertainment Foundation’s 86th performance season.
Founded by the Essex, England native, Alex Mendham and His Orchestra take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, at Thomasville Center for the Arts, and ticket demand has been very strong for the performance.
Ginny LeGette, TEF’s Vice President for Box Office, said ticketing is very tight and, because of the limited seating remaining, TEF is only taking ticket orders by phone at 229-226-7404. Interested concertgoers should act quickly to secure seating, she explained.
Tickets are $40 for adults, $15 for students, and all seats are reserved.
The debonair Mendham and his orchestra enjoyed a longstanding residency at London’s famed Savoy Hotel, which led to invitations to perform at other iconic venues, from Belgium’s Kursaal Concert Hall to Los Angeles’ Cicada Club and from Kensington Palace to Highclere Castle. In 2022 and 2023, the big band dazzled guests as featured entertainers on the Queen Mary2’s transatlantic crossings.
Alex Mendham and His Orchestra sweep audiences away with the high style and musical glory of a bygone era, turning a golden age of music into a worldwide concert touring show.
“Something in the music from the 1920s and ‘30s really speaks to me,” explains Mendham. “I love the very high standard the musicians and the orchestras achieved, and many of the very best compositions from this period are still being performed today.”
Season ticket holders unable to attend the performance are encouraged to pass their tickets on to family and friends or release them back to TEF to help accommodate the demand.
Founded in 1937, Thomasville Entertainment Foundation is a volunteer-powered, nonprofit organization. In addition to its annual performance season by acclaimed artists and ensembles, TEF also provides free Tickets for Teens to its series performances, presents a dedicated free family series, awards scholarships for promising students in the performing arts and offers a slate of educational programs and events at no cost to participating students or schools.
