DERRY — The homicide of a Derry teen found shot to death behind a business in Milford last year remains unsolved.
On Thursday, Michael Garrity, the Director of Communications for Attorney General John Formella, said the state is awaiting test results for physical materials before the case can move forward.
A suspect and a motive for the shooting have not yet been identified.
Around 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 7, Milford police responded to 911 calls reporting gunshots outside a Dollar General on Wilton Road.
When police arrived, they found evidence of multiple gunshots in the parking lot, and found Gage Cassen, at the rear of the property, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
At the time of his death, Cassen was working for Trash King, a waste management company based out of Derry.
Though he once was a student at Pinkerton Academy, he left the school a year prior to his death without graduating.
Prior to the shooting, Cassen was facing criminal charges in Rockingham and Hillsborough North superior courts and was out on a $500 bail for two felony charges of theft by unauthorized taking of more than $1,500 stemming from an incident in Salem.
He was also facing contempt of court charges for allegedly ignoring a subpoena to provide testimony before a Hillsborough County Grand Jury.
Friends and family said Cassen was turning his life around before he was killed and had restored his faith in God.
