STAMFORD — Friends of Music of Stamford will continue its 2024 season of world-class chamber music at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19, with a performance by the Verona Quartet, featuring Jonathan Ong (violin), Dorothy Ro (violin), Abigail Rojansky (viola), and Jonathan Dormand (cello). It will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 96 Main St. in Stamford.
According to a media release, the group’s members represent four nations. Their cultural cooperation and cohesiveness has earned the foursome a reputation as one of the most distinguished ensembles on the chamber music scene today.
A recipient of Chamber Music America’s 2020 Cleveland Quartet Award, Verona Quartet reportedly strives for a dynamic, imaginative approach to collaboration and programming that champions cross-cultural and interdisciplinary enterprises in addition to promoting contemporary music.
During Sunday’s performance, the Quartet will play String Quartet No. 1 in E-flat Major, Op. 12 by Felix Mendelssohn, String Quartet No. 4 by Grażyna Bacewicz, and String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op. 132 by Ludwig van Beethoven.
Admission is by donation at the door with a suggested amount of $15 per person and $10 for seniors and students. There is no charge for those younger than 13. Payment is required in cash or by check.
