NEWBURYPORT — Newburyport Livable Streets (NLS) is offering a free cycling skills clinic for adults in the Bresnahan Elementary parking lot on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5. NLS wants to encourage safe bike riding habits and help build confidence in adults who are somewhat new to cycling or who have not cycled in a while or who want to brush up on their understanding of the rules of the road for cyclists.
In the clinic, staff from Riverside Cycle will demonstrate the basics of bike maintenance. Instructors certified by the League of American Bicyclists will teach safe cycling skills. After practicing biking on a closed “rodeo” course, participants will take a group ride on quiet city streets to practice what they have learned.
The 90-minute clinics take place Sunday, Sept. 28 and Oct. 5, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. (choose one session), with a rain date on Oct. 19. All adults are welcome to participate. Register for one of these sessions through the Newburyport Recreation and Youth Services portal: newburyportma.myrec.com/info/default.aspx
