SALISBURY — The Actors Studio of Newburyport presents “Fuente Grande” by John Tavano from Sept. 12-14. at its Salisbury-based theater.
Performances take place Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. The Actors Studio is at 1 Merrill St., No. 3. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.newburyportacting.org.
The play takes place on the night in 1936 when Frederico Garcia Lorca was assassinated by fascists in Spain. It is set in a cafe in Granada and focuses on Lorca’s friends who are worried and trying to keep him and his writings safe.
This play features the music and poetry of Lorca presented in Spanish and English with the voices of Rhina Espailalat, Alfred Nicol and Shannon Muhs. Tavano is featured on guitar.
Featured actors include Jake Rivers, Maria Wilkins, Brian Charewicz, Catherine Volinsky, Kathleen Miller, Shannon Muhs, Josh Paradis and Tommy Francis with Toni Treadway as page turner.
