CUMBERLAND — Allegany College of Maryland has been selected to participate in the Engineering for US All College Credit Pathways Initiative to develop new opportunities for high school students pursuing engineering education.
The initiative supports colleges and universities in creating college credits for students who complete high school coursework aligned with the innovative engineering curriculum. The curriculum is currently under consideration by the College Board as the foundation for a future Advanced Placement Engineering course.
The initiative will establish a pathway that allows students who successfully complete the coursework in high school to earn college credit, helping them transition more seamlessly into engineering programs after graduation.
ACM will also join a national community of colleges and universities committed to expanding engineering education. The college will receive professional learning opportunities, curriculum development resources and ongoing collaboration with peer institutions working to increase access to engineering education nationwide.
Participation in the initiative aligns with ACM’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality educational opportunities that prepare students for success.
The Engineering for US All initiative seeks to broaden participation in engineering by making high-quality engineering education accessible to more students and by creating stronger connections between secondary and higher education.
