TEANECK, N.J. — Former Allegany College of Maryland player and coach Ethan Newton received a promotion in the Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball program.
Newton was promoted to associate head coach Friday after serving as an assistant for the Knights since 2019.
Fairleigh Dickinson is a Division I program that competes in the NEC (Northeast Conference).
Newton played for Steve Bazarnic at Allegany from 2009-10 and led the Trojans to the NJCAA World Series as a freshman.
Newton left ACM as the program’s all-time leader in hits and stolen bases before continuing his college baseball career at Ohio University.
He earned second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors as a junior and broke the Bobcats’ stolen base record with 43.
Newton began his coaching career in 2015 at Allegany and spent three seasons under Bazarnic.
After two seasons as a volunteer assistant at the University of Hartford, Newton joined Fairleigh Dickinson in 2019.
