NEWBURYPORT — Nurses Olivia Motsis and her mother, Lisa Cyr-Wilmot, have at least two things in common: they work at Anna Jaques Hospital and they both gave birth there.
For Motsis and her husband, Travis Motsis, Mother’s Day came early when Alexander Joseph Motsis was born April 27. The first-time parents, who grew up in Amesbury and now live in Newton, N.H., said they chose Anna Jaques because of its birth center. But perhaps just as important is the fact that Anna Jaques has been part of the couple’s families for as long as they can remember, they said.
“We couldn’t imagine having Alexander anywhere else,” Olivia Motsis said. “Anna Jaques feels like home to us. Everyone at Anna Jaques cares so deeply about their patients, and there’s no one I would entrust more with the health and well-being of our beautiful baby boy than the team there. I am thrilled to be part of the Anna Jaques community, and now Alexander will be forever part of the hospital family, too.”
Even before Olivia was born, Cyr-Wilmot has been treating patients at Anna Jaques for 31 years, most recently in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). Travis Motsis was born at Anna Jaques in 1997. Olivia Motsis started working at Clipper Cardiovascular Associates five years ago while in nursing school, and joined the staff at Anna Jaques two years ago.
Alexander Motsis is the first grandchild for Cyr-Wilmot and her husband, Sam, who live in Amesbury.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled,” Cyr-Wilmot said. “Having our grandson born at the hospital where I’ve worked for more than three decades and now where my daughter works makes it all the more special.”
