ROCKPORT — Pop-up showers and microbursts around noon Friday knocked down trees and led to power outages for about 800 customers in town.
Police reported a tree and electrical wires had fallen at the intersection of Summer Street and Pleasant Street around noon.
Cape Ann Weather’s Chris Spittle said an automobile parked close to the scene at Summer Street and Pleasant Street appeared to have been spared.
“I think it didn’t have any damage,” he said.
Another tree was reported to have fallen at the intersection of South Street and Marmion Way.
Reports indicated National Grid officials were on the scene attending to the situations.
According to its outage map, National Grid estimates electricity will be restored around 3 p.m.
