NEW ORLEANS — The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has recognized Plattsburgh State’s Emma Mahoney, Isabella Scott, Brianna Wise, Grace Yarkosky and Charles Cypress for their academic excellence.
Both the Plattsburgh State men’s and women’s track and field team also earned recognition as an All-Academic Team.
For athletes to be eligible, students must carry a GPA over 3.30 and meet one of the following athletic criteria:
— Must have finished the season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on Track and Field’s Results Reporting Service. Any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the national championships are also eligible.
— Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams, as listed on the indoor descending order list on TFRRS. Any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who participated in the relay at the national championships, are eligible.
— Any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions — one relay team per institution— is eligible.
Mahoney completed her sophomore year with a 3.91 GPA while pursuing a degree in nursing.
Scott completed her sophomore year with a 3.62 GPA while pursuing a degree in hospitality management.
Wise finished her sophomore year with a 3.92 GPA while pursuing a degree in accounting.
Yarkosky completed her senior year with a 3.61 GPA while pursuing a degree in fitness and wellness leadership.
All four earned USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition.
Cypress graduated with a degree in nursing and a 3.74 GPA, earning USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition.
The women’ s team excelled in the classroom, posting a 3.60 cumulative GPA, and the men posted a 3.18 cumulative GPA to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors.
