Federal Environmental Protection Agency and state Department of Environmental Conservation officials met with about 40 residents Monday at a public information session in the Town of Niagara as field work continues in the area.
More than 1,230 properties have now been visited by EPA and DEC teams requesting to conduct radiological screenings. Since July 23, 682 access forms have been signed.
The next scheduled drop-in session is 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Town of Niagara’s community center Veterans Memorial Community Park, 7000 Joe Rotella Way.

Since Sunday, joint NYSDEC-EPA teams screened the interior of seven Niagara area properties.
Where additional investigation is needed, EPA and NYSDEC are working directly with property owners and renters to schedule and complete additional assessment activities, which may include additional radiological scans, air sampling, and soil sampling.
