The CVAC announced its All-Stars, which were picked at the Section VII Wrestling Championship on Feb. 16.
Both first and second teams were picked.
FIRST TEAM
At 103, Peru’s Alyn Capen completed a 18-9 record for the year with a 59-47 overall record.
Saranac’s Liam Smart was named at 110. The eighth grader finished the season with a 29-8 regular season.
NAC’s Jackson LaBarge at 118 and Nolan Gilmore at 132 were the Bobcats’ two first teamers. LaBarge finished with a 38-4 record in the regular season, and Gilmore went 28-15.
Peru’s Jeremiah King was on the first team at 126 at a 28-11 record.
King’s teammate Mason Starke went 30-7 this year at 138 pounds.
Teegan Smith, of Saranac, was the All-Star at 144 with a 31-8 regular season record.
The Nighthawks’ fourth selection was Nathan Beattie at 150, finishing with a 27-13 record over the season.
Saranac had four consecutive selections from 157 to 190 pounds. Alexander Mehrman (25-12), Luke Garrow (15-8), Branigan Boulds (31-7) and Landen Gadway (35-3) earned the respective nods.
Ausable Valley had two nominations in Warren Pray and Nathan Rondeau, rounding out the first team at 215 and 285, respectively. Pray went 27-4 over the season as Rondeau went 30-3.
SECOND TEAM
The second team was led by Kyler Hicks, of NAC, at 103. Hicks finished the regular season at 22-16.
Fellow Bobcat Reid Smith earned the nod at the 110 weight class with a 19-14 regular season.
Peru’s Kaden Rivers was the 118 selection and took a 18-15 season record.
Colby Roesler, of Saranac, went 31-9 over the regular season at the 126 weight class.
AVCS’ Jayden Burgess was the second team pick at 132, going 14-8 in the regular season.
NAC had three straight selections at 138, 144 and 150 pounds. Ashton Miller (21-21), Jake Manor (24-16) and Hayden Bartlemus (29-12) were the picks, respectively.
Beekmantown had three second-team picks at the 157, 175 and 190 classes. Nathan Rougier (27-11), Tristan Manney (33-11) and Mason Devins (21-26) were the picked Eagles.
Peru’s Cole Silver broke up the Beekmantown run, being the pick at 165 with a 18-8 regular season.
Saranac’s Hayden Bordeau at 215 and NAC’s Arthur Trudo at 285 rounded out the second team. Bordeau finished the season with a 24-16 record as Trudo went 26-9.
ADDITIONAL AWARDS
Along with winning the team sectional title, Peru’s Mike Seymour and Morgan Remilard were selected as Coach of the Year.
Beekmantown earned the award for sportsmanship as Warren Pray was nominated as Sportsman of the Year.
Billy Manor was picked as Referee of the year.
Saranac’s Landen Gadway was picked as the Wrestler of the Year and Champion of Champions.
