The 127 Senior Center Friday morning meetings start with the doors opening at 8 a.m. for coffee and fellowship, games, or just chatting and catching up with old friends and making new ones. Visitors are greeted by two of the friendliest ladies you will ever meet — Diane and Betty, and they will fill you in on everything you need to know about the center, and then introduce you to some new friends.
Bingo is from 9:30 to 10:30. The members wish to thank First Bank for sponsoring bingo prizes at the last meeting. After bingo, President Arlene Simmons presides over a short meeting to let the members know of upcoming events. She always asks members if they have any announcements to make or jokes to tell. At the last meeting, member Linda Kondrach warned the members to beware of computer messages that may be scams and Lynda Ennis warned about telephone scams, where the caller tries to get you to say “yes” and records it. Many scammers target seniors, so it is good to be aware.
After the meeting, there is always an entertainer or a speaker with helpful information for seniors.
At the last meeting, the members were entertained by Ed Matlin. Ed is quite an accomplished pianist, having played since he was 13 years old. The members enjoyed it very much. After the speaker or entertainer, lunch is available for members for $5.
Do you enjoy live music? The community is invited to come to the 127 Senior Center at 1460 S. Main Street in Crossville for live music every Thursday evening, from 6-8 p.m. Gene Brown and friends always provide some great music of various types including bluegrass, country, and more. There’s dancing, too, and all are welcome!
