Eleven recent high school graduates from Crossville are among more than 100 recognized with a Roane State Merit Award.
The Foundation’s Merit Awards are presented to students who have demonstrated outstanding excellence in academics, leadership, the arts, or athletics and who have maintained a minimum 3.5 GPA.
“The dedication these students have shown in their schools and communities is truly inspiring,” Roane State Foundation Director of Student Programs Pamela Rudnitzki said. “We are incredibly grateful to our donors who make these awards possible, allowing us to support the brightest local talent as they take the next step in their educational journeys.”
Recipients from Crossville are:
Jay & Diane Brown Scholarship Endowment — Miranda Persinger, Chloe Waldo, Marla Ashburn, Emeri Sherrill, MacKenzie Spriggs, Keely Brown and Marly Elliott
Kurt A. Kraus Memorial Scholarship Endowment — Savannah Horak and Lydia Hargis
Kayser Roth/Robert Smith Presidential Scholarship Endowment — Brayden Patterson and Domingo Matias
The awards, made possible through the generosity of many Roane State Foundation donors, totaled more than $123,000 in scholarship funds for students planning to enroll at Roane State this fall.
Foundation representatives said the most recent awards are just the beginning. Nearly $400,000 in additional funds will be awarded this summer to students across the region through the annual awards process, helping remove financial barriers for the upcoming academic year.
