The Plateau Women’s Chorus launched its fall 2026 season Aug. 29 in the small sanctuary of Crossville First Methodist Church.
“The morning began with a delicious brunch hosted by chorus leadership, complete with autumnal décor, sparkling apple cider toasts, and fun ‘get-to-know-you’ activities, setting the tone for a season of connection and joy,” said chorus member Jane Harding.
This year, the chorus welcomes six new members, each paired with a mentor to foster friendship and support throughout the season.
After registration and mingling, the singers moved into the primary sanctuary to preview their upcoming repertoire — a mix of contemporary choral works by composers such as Gwyneth Walker, Susan Crowe, and Andrea Ramsey.
With more than 60 voices strong, the chorus gathers weekly on Tuesday afternoons. Led by Director Dana Beal and accompanied by Carol Tausan on piano, the chorus is rehearsing a delightful blend of music that promises to uplift audiences across the Plateau.
“This season’s music is about connecting hearts and lifting spirits,” Beal said. “We’ll be singing a rich repertoire from classics to an arrangement of ‘You Are the Sunshine of My Life’ by Stevie Wonder written just for us!”
Adding to the excitement, the Young Singers of the Plateau will join the women’s chorus for their Sunday concert performances, bringing youthful energy and harmony to the stage.
Young Singers of the Plateau is directed by Beal and accompanied by Tausan. The group rehearses every Thursday afternoon at Crossville First Methodist Church.
The fall concert season kicks off at noon Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Art Circle Public Library at 3 East St., Crossville.
Sunday concerts are Nov. 1 at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church at 231 Westchester Drive, and Nov. 8 at Crossville First Methodist Church at 100 Braun St. Both concerts begin at 3 p.m.
“Come celebrate the season with music that stirs souls and brings the community together — one note at a time,” Harding said.
This season, the Plateau Women’s Chorus is honored to partner with Jonah’s Joy Home for Children, a Crossville nonprofit ministry dedicated to restoring hope and transforming lives.
Jonah’s Joy provides a faith-based residential treatment home for abused, neglected, and troubled adolescent girls, offering a safe, nurturing environment where healing can begin.
Through compassionate care, quality mental health services, and family education, their mission is to break generational cycles of abuse and neglect by equipping children and their families with the tools needed for lasting change.
