PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Sammy Scritchfield, Elijah Ziler, and Peyton Poland combined for seven goals, leading Lighthouse to a comfortable 10-0 win over Petersburg on Monday.
Scritchfield wasted little time, tallying a hat trick in the opening 13 minutes.
Ziler, Poland, Jake MacGray and Ian Goss all scored before halftime for a 7-0 lead at the break. MacGray finished with three assists.
Poland converted from the penalty spot after halftime, Ziler added his second goal shortly thereafter, and Luke Kamauf capped off the scoring off a feed from Keaton Golliday in the 66th minute, when the referee halted the game.
The Seahawks had a 20-0 advantage in shots and 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Poland and Cade Brenneman combined for the shutout, while Petersburg’s Ryan Kessel stopped eight shots.
Lighthouse’s inaugural season got off to a flying start on Friday when it won a 5-3 thriller over Broadfording for the program’s first-ever regular-season win.
The Seahawks again wasted little time, with Kamauf finding the back of the net off a feed from Scritchfield at the 5:19 mark.
Less than three minutes later, Scritchfield served a free kick toward the mouth of goal, where Rivers Westrom drilled it home to double the Seahawks’ lead at the 8:27 mark.
Lighthouse opened its lead to three less than nine minutes later when Owen Haynes took advantage of a Broadfording mishap to find the back of the net.
The Seahawks again took advantage from a set piece at the 28:26 mark, with MacGray touching an indirect free kick to Scritchfield, who blasted a shot into the top right corner for his first goal of the season.
Broadfording answered less than six minutes later at the 34:15 mark when Jordi Mestres found the back of the net on a breakaway.
Scritchfield struck again at 36:10 after Ziler whipped a free kick into the box, finding Scritchfield who took a touch and slotted it home for a 5-1 halftime lead.
Broadfording’s Arthur Saadi scored twice in the second half at 72:11 and 77:56, but the Lighthouse defense held on for the win.
Poland made 14 saves while Broadfording’s Michael Snyder stopped seven shots.
Broadfording led in shots, 17-12, while both teams had a pair of corner kicks.
Lighthouse (2-0) travels to Johnstown Christian on Thursday.
