LE CENTER — A Mora man has been charged with felony counts of criminal sexual conduct involving a minor following reports to authorities on July 13.
David James Charpenter, 18, has been charged in Le Sueur County District Court with two counts of felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct, possession of child sexual abuse material and communication of sexually explicit materials to children.
In July, the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a reported sexual assault of a minor under 14 at a Le Center residence. According to the criminal complaint, the victim’s parents found Charpenter in the victim’s bedroom and learned they had a sexual relationship and had been communicating over messaging apps for about five months. A search of Charpenter’s phone found multiple explicit images and videos sent to the victim.
He will first appear in court on Aug. 24.
