The American Postal Workers Union recently hosted an event at the Crossville Post Office.
“The event was the APWU National Day of Action to Protect Our Post Offices,” said Matt Conatser via email. “Union members gathered nationwide to stand together and show support to protect our Postal Service and our communities. America deserves a Postal Service that remains public, financially secure, for the people, and capable of serving every community for generations to come.”
APWU urges the protection of the Postal Service, which continues to provide service to more than 167 million addresses.
Its members encourages Congress to strengthen the Postal Service, not force cuts and post office closures. They say there are practical solutions.
“Postal customers want reliable delivery, not privatization or reduced service days,” the union’s talking points read.
They urge the Senate to confirm members to its the Postal Service Board of Governors “who are committed to protecting universal service and investing in the Postal Service’s future.”
They call on Congress to support financial reforms that strengthen the Postal Service, confirm Postal Service leaders committed to public service, and protect vote-by-mail and public confidence in election mail.
