The Little League Baseball 9-to-11-year-old East Regional tournament, featuring champions in that age bracket from a dozen different states, will be back at Harry Ball Field in Beverly for another year starting this Sunday.
The tournament begins Sunday and concludes on Friday, August 6 with the championship game, slated for a noon start.
There are a trio of 4-team pools in the tournament: the New England Region, made up of champions from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont; the Metro Region, comprised of titlists from Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey and New York; and the Mid-Atlantic Region, featuring the crownholders from Delaware, Maryland Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C.
Each team in the tournament will play each of the other three teams in their pool; those games will take place on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Six games will be held each day, with both field at Harry Ball Field being utilized.
The respective teams that win each pool — along with one wild card team that has both the best record remaining plus runs allowed ratio — will advance to the Final Four, which takes place on Thursday.
The two winners of those semifinals play for the title on Friday.
