BOYS LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
HENRY CARD
Pingree Junior
Midfield
He’s big and athletic, has a lethal shot and keen passing eye, defensive awareness, and physical skills that jump out at you. So you can see why the University of Notre Dame can’t wait for Henry Card to join their school in the fall of 2027. He has one more season at Pingree before that, however, and will hope to add to the totals that made him this year’s Salem News Player of the Year.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound middie from Hamilton scored 52 goals and added 22 assists for 74 points against some of top prep school defenses and goaltenders in New England. He scored four or more goals in a game on six different occasions this spring.
A team captain as a junior, the 17-year-old Card led the Highlanders in all three categories and earned team MVP honors. It didn’t stop there, though, as he was picked as a US Junior All-American, was named All-NEPSAC (New England Prep School Athletic Conference) and was All-Region.
“Henry is a true two-way midfielder,” said veteran Highlanders coach Kevin Tersolo. “He’s not only a dominating offensive midfielder, but on the defensive side of the ball he can lock down opposing team’s offensive midfielders, too. He’s unselfish and a phenomenal captain and teammate.”
With career totals of 92 goals, 42 assists and 134 points, Card had his best showing of the season with a 7-goal, 1-assist outburst against Cushing in Pingree’s New England Scholastic Lacrosse League’s (NESLL) semifinal triumph. He also excels in the classroom, carrying a 3.7 GPA.
Card credits his three older brothers, Brennan, Liam and Ryder (a college basketball player at George Washington University) for helping him deal with physical and mental challenges, how to remain disciplined and keep working.
