Fans of folk music can hear a lineup of the area’s best bands at the Hawley’s Grove Hootenanny at 482 West Ave. on Saturday.
Five bands, including fiddle and banjo players, will perform original and cover tunes from folk, bluegrass and country music under Hawley Grove’s tent, moving indoors if there is rain. Vendors will be available with food and beverages sold throughout the event.

• 6:45 – 8:15 p.m. – The Dooleys
• 8:30 – 10 p.m. – Working Man String Band
Evan Anstey, lead singer with his band the Old Ways, said the event was conceived when several bands decided they wanted to play together.
“We just kind of wanted to keep it similar genre-wise,” Anstey said. “You don’t really see a lot of big folk concerts super often in Western New York. The fact that each band plays a mix of originals and covers is great too.”
Anstey said folk music has gained a following in the US.
“You see it in from other genres like Mumford and Sons, and also with Noah Kahn. It’s been cool just to see people show up gig after gig wanting to hear our music again and again.”
