CUMBERLAND — Actors Daniel Lamont and Daylon Burks enjoyed what they saw of Cumberland during “Mayor of Kingstown” filming at the Western Maryland Railway Station last week.
It feels very old school, it has that old D.C. feel to it,” Burks said. “I’d say it’s been a pretty cool experience so far … It’s different, it’s cool, I like it.”
The Paramount+ show filmed scenes for its fifth and final season Wednesday through Friday. Most of the film’s production takes place in the Pittsburgh area but the producers were attracted to the train station and train and decided to bring the production to Cumberland.
The two actors were standing in as doubles while filming took place. In addition, they’ve played other roles on the show since Season Two, they said.
Burks played a SWAT member on the show in the past, while Lamont said he’s played a correctional officer. Lamont said he’s had a direct scene working with lead actor Jeremy Renner in the past.
“This is absolutely so nice. In Pittsburgh, we film a lot where it’s like -10 degrees and snowy, but this is so much nicer, it’s beautiful,” Lamont said. He got a chance to walk around and check out a lot of the downtown scenery.”
Burks said it’s a completely different feel filming in Cumberland than in Pittsburgh.
“The area’s great. I wish we filmed out here more, honestly,” he said.
The show wrapped up production about 6 p.m. on Friday.
