MANKATO — Can Minnesota State women’s hockey up the ante after last season’s historic success?
Only time will tell. But the schedule for the Mavericks’ 2026-27 season has been unveiled, revealing the path for what lies ahead.
The season starts with two home series. RPI rolls into town for games Sept. 25-26. St. Cloud State comes to Mankato the following weekend to start WCHA play Oct. 2-3.
The Mavericks get a week off before six-straight road games.
The first trip away from home comes against reigning National Champion Wisconsin. Those games in Madison are Oct. 16-17.
After that, MSU ships out to Boston for three games. The Mavericks begin their run in the Ice Breaker tournament against Robert Morris on Oct. 23 and will face either Yale or Boston University on Oct. 24. MSU stays out East for one more game against Boston College on Oct. 26.
The Mavericks then have a home and home with St. Thomas. The series opener on Oct. 30 will be in St. Paul with the finale in Mankato on Oct. 31, MSU’s final games before the International Break commences on No. 6 and 7.
MSU then returns to the road for two WCHA games against Bemidji State Nov. 13-14, then hosts Minnesota Duluth Nov. 21-22 before shutting down during the week of Thanksgiving.
After the break, MSU returns to the road to face reigning WCHA champion and national runner-up Ohio State on Dec. 4-5. The Mavericks final series before Christmas break comes in the form of a home-and-home against Minnesota with the opener on Dec. 11 going down in Minneapolis and the finale coming to Mankato on Dec. 12.
MSU resumes action Jan. 2-3, hosting Lindenwood for its final non-conference series of the 2026-27 campaign. WCHA action resumes with a pair of road games at St. Cloud State on Jan. 8-9. January concludes with a home series against Wisconsin (Jan. 15-16), a road series against Duluth (Jan. 22-23) and a home series against Ohio State (Jan. 29-30).
The regular season ends with another home-and-home series against St. Thomas with the opener Feb. 5 played in Mankato and the finale on Feb. 6 going down in St. Paul and a second home-and-home with Minnesota with the opener set for Feb. 12 in Mankato and the finale in Minneapolis on Feb.13.
The 2026-27 season concludes with home games against Bemidji State on Feb. 19-20. The WCHA quarterfinals are set for Feb. 26-28 with the Final Face-off scheduled for March 4-6. The NCAA tournament opens March 11.
Minnesota State won a school record 17 games last year, finishing 17-19-2 and advancing to the Final Face-off for second time in program history.
