Henry Ayers and Alfred Hom won individual titles as Cooperstown took first place at the Center State Conference Tennis Championships on Thursday, April 30, at Utica’s Parkway Center.
The Hawkeyes finished with 41 points, 12 above second-place Sauquoit Valley. Clinton finished third with 27, followed by Westmoreland with 25.
All Cooperstown players made it to the finals in their flights.
At first singles, Ayers defeated Bryce Petteys of Sauquoit, 10-1.
At second singles, Hom defeated Jeff Foley of Clinton, 10-7.
At third singles, Nathan Silchuk of Sauquoit beat Hayden Spencer, 10-8.
At first doubles, Brody Faffley and Richard Zeigler of Westmoreland defeated Bianca Adam and Micah Raffo, 10-8.
Cooperstown also won at second doubles as Rigzin Gazan and Emmett Ayers defeated Gavin Kapes-Van Slyke and Brian Chang of Clinton, 10-4.
Cooperstown will host Manlius-Pebble Hill for a non-league match Saturday, May 2.

Joey Paterno struck out nine batters in a three-hit shutout as host Cooperstown won a Center State Conference non-division game at Doubleday Field on Friday, May 1.
The game was scoreless until Cooperstown broke through with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ty Burkhart got a two-RBI single then scored on an error for a 3-0 Hawkeye lead.
Paterno got an RBI in the sixth inning, scoring Wyatt Butts and giving himself an insurance run.
Jacob Petucci had two hits for Herkimer. Gavin Pizer took the loss, giving up four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five in 5.1 innings.
Cooperstown (4-2, 3-1) will host Hamilton for a CSC Division II game at Doubleday Field on Monday, May 4.
Gilboa-Conesville/Roxbury 10, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 3
David Cammer struck out 11 batters to get the pitching win and also went 3-for-4, with a triple, four RBI and two runs scored as G-C/R won a non-league game at Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Friday.
The RocketCats chased B-K-W pitched Chris Dwyer after one inning, tagging him for six runs.
Garrison Ross had two hits and scored three runs for G-C/R, which also got two hits from Gavin Morales.
Aggelos Lefkaditis went 3-for-4 with a double for the Bulldogs.
Gilboa-Conesville/Roxbury (6-1, 3-1) plays a non-league game at Middleburgh on Monday, May 4.
