BAKER, W.Va. — East Hardy’s Evan Hamilton recorded a hat trick, hitting three home runs in three innings during an 11-0, five-inning shutout of Tygarts Valley on Wednesday.
Hamilton led-off the bottom of the first and sent a solo shot on the opening pitch to center.
He followed with another solo shot in the second and a two-run blast in the third.
Hamilton finished 4 for 4 with five RBIs.
Mason Hamilton went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a walk while Dayton Dove and Gage Dove added a pair of hits a piece.
Dayton Dove also drove in three runs.
Shayne Sisler threw a five-inning perfect game, striking out eight.
The Cougars (8-3) head to Bridgeport, West Virginia, for the McDonald’s Classic on Friday, opening at South Harrison at 12:30 p.m.
Moorefield 10, Pendleton County 0
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Moorefield scored five runs in the first two innings and five in the sixth to walk-off Pendleton County in run-rule fashion on Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets (8-4) got their necessary 10-run lead for the mercy rule on a two-run double by Blake Snyder.
Snyder, who doubled twice and had four RBIs, was the winning arm. He allowed three hits across six shutout innings, striking out three and walking none.
Cyrus Kump tripled, Zack Keplinger was 3 for 3 with a double and three runs, Trevor Baldwin was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, and Edison Metheny also doubled.
Pendleton’s Chase Owens took the loss, surrendering seven runs (six earned) in five innings. He doubled at the plate.
Moorefield hosts Notre Dame on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Berkeley Springs 10, Paw Paw 0
BERKELEY SPWING, W.Va. — Paw Paw was held to one hit by three Berkeley Springs pitchers in a five-inning defeat Wednesday.
Caiden Groves allowed one hit on 3 1/3 frames of shutout ball with nine strikeouts. Liam Coffman followed with 1 1/3 no-hit innings, and Brennan Anderton got the final out.
Taylor Carder was tabbed with the loss.
