AMESBURY — For those looking for a comforting bite to eat in downtown Amesbury, look no further than newly opened restaurant Mac Daddies.
This week, the comfort food restaurant opened their Main Street location, in the former Coop Rotisserie space, to the Amesbury community.
The restaurant — which joins a separate location at 75 South Main St., Haverhill — serves up everything from burgers to rice bowls to mac and cheese, offering a quick serve setting for diners.
While the restaurant just opened Monday, owners and fiancées, David Jackson and Jessica Leboeuf said customers have been steadily streaming in.
Jackson said it is a “relief” to have the location open and ready to serve the community.
“I think the most important thing was getting our ducks in a row and making sure that we can put out the best product for the guests, no shortcuts. And, I think we’ve accomplished that,” he said.
Leboeuf said there has been excitement from the community since it was announced Mac Daddies was coming to Carriagetown, with many people glad to see an Amesbury location open.
“I just think in general, people have been waiting for us to open. People have to come to the Haverhill location wanting to check out our food because Amesbury is opening,” she said.
Alongside enthusiastic new customers, Jackson said other local business owners have been quick to welcome the restaurant to the city.
“People have been really inviting. It’s a great community,” he said.
While Jackson and Leboeuf own both Haverhill and Amesbury restaurants, day-to-day operations in Amesbury will be run by managing partners, Holly Janco and Michael Nutton.
Janco said the pair is looking forward to becoming ingrained in the Amesbury community and interacting with customers.
“We’re here to make people happy, and we honor and appreciate honest feedback. We want to fix something if there’s something wrong with it. I think we’re pretty personable and we really want to get to know the community. And, we want to make sure that they’re happy, and we want them to keep coming back,” she said.
Jackson said while there are now two Mac Daddies locations, customers can expect the same quality food in both spots.
“The biggest thing with us is not just the quality, but the consistency of the food. You should be able to have steak tip rice bowl here or a brisket mac and cheese here, and go to the Haverhill location and it’s exactly the same. There’s no difference, and that is consistency and quality,” Jackson said.
Jackson also praised Janco and Nutton and said Amesbury is in good hands.
“We don’t cut corners, and we want the people in Amesbury to come and feel at home and welcome. And, Holly and Mike are a great pair to do that, they learned from us,” he said.
