The Huntsville Item has promoted general manager Traci Gallin to the top role as publisher of the paper, effective immediately.
A native of Huntsville, Gallin started her newspaper career at The Item 27 years ago in the mailroom and advanced steadily over the years in the production, advertising and business operations. She has served as general manager since December of 2022.
“Traci has proven to have excellent leadership skills throughout her history at The Item,” said Lisa Chappell, Texas regional executive for CNHI, the paper’s parent owner. “With her experience and talent, I am confident in her ability to continue to lead this team to success.”
Gallin said she looks forward to her expanded responsibilities as publisher, serving the Huntsville community with locally relevant print and online content.
“I have been fortunate to learn new things in the day-to-day operations of The Item, Huntsville Living magazine and our online website,” she said. “My focus has and will continue to be great customer service and providing more local news for this great community.”
Traci and her husband Terry are the parents of son Darrick and daughter Destiny, and the grandparents of their children. “God and family are the most important things in my life,” she said. “Without the love and support from them none of this would be possible.”
