PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Fifth-ranked Petersburg was victorious twice over the weekend, routing No. 3 Hampshire, 52-38, Friday and Berkeley Springs, 66-23, Saturday.
On Friday, the Vikings (9-6), jumped on Hampshire in the first quarter to lead 18-6. Petersburg had a 34-17 edge at the half and 41-25 margin going into the fourth.
Hampshire (12-6) has lost three in a row following its seven-game winning streak.
Petersburg’s Miley Tingler (15 points), Shyane Tawney (10) and Karlie DiBenedetto (10) finished in double figures.
Della Knight paced Hampshire with 19 points. Knight has scored at least 10 points in all 18 of the Trojans’ games this season.
Hampshire hosts No. 2 Keyser (14-2) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The Golden Tornado won the first meeting 65-46 on Jan. 29 in Keyser.
Petersburg is at Pendleton County on Monday night.
Against Berkeley Springs, Petersburg dominated the second quarter 22-2 to take an insurmountable 38-12 lead.
Tawney led the Vikings with 15 points, and Ayden Mayfield added 12.
Katie Risinger was the high scorer for Berkeley Springs with 10 points.
