FROSTBURG — The preseason polls for several of Frostburg State’s spring sports were released this week.
Frostburg was picked as the Mountain East Conference (MEC) preseason favorite in women’s lacrosse and the North Division favorite in baseball.
The women’s lacrosse team advanced to its first Division II tournament last season after winning both the MEC regular season and tournament championships.
The Bobcats finished 13-7 overall and 8-0 in MEC play.
Frostburg opens the season at Kutztown on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 4 p.m.
The baseball team earned eight first-place votes after going 36-17 last season and 18-10 in MEC play, falling in the MEC tournament to Fairmont State.
Last season’s conference champion, Point Park, received three first place votes.
Charleston is the South Division favorite with eight votes.
Frostburg opens the season on Friday, Feb. 13 at Ashland.
In acrobatics and tumbling, the Bobcats were picked third after finishing 4-6 overall and 4-2 in the MEC last season.
FSU opens at Stevenson on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.
The men’s lacrosse team was picked fourth in the East Coast Conference (ECC).
The Bobcats went 7-9 and 4-2 in conference play last season.
Frostburg opens at home on Friday, Feb. 13 against Saint Michael’s at 3 p.m.
