BOYS HOCKEY
St. John’s Prep 4, BC High 1: Nathan Michaud turned aside 22-of-23 shots between the pipes while JR Goldstein and Gavin Anderson each had a power play goal and one assist for the Eagles (6-3-2) in a road victory. Brandon Ward also found the back of the net for St. John’s Prep, as did Anthony Petruccelli with a shorthanded marker in the third period.
Pingree 4, Portsmouth Abbey 2: Sophomore goaltender Max Levine-Stein stopped 27 shots for his sixth win of the season and junior Bruce Danaher of Wenham picked up his first prep school goal as the Highlanders improved to 8-4-3 with a victory in Rhode Island. Juniors Christian Marsh and Reed Foster, along with sophomore Will Sheehan, each added single goals for Pingree.
Danvers 3, Masconomet 1: Owen Swanton finished with a goal and an assist while goalkeeper Ethan Morey made 23 saves to give the Falcons (5-6-1) a road triumph. Colby Medeiros scored the eventual game-winner and Gaven Cooper also lit the lamp, with all the scoring in the first period. Drew Godfried, Cooper Dunham, Connor Dembowski and Thomas Fish all had assists for the winners.
Thomas Finn had the lone tally, also coming in the first period, for the Chieftains (2-9), with Nick Vetrano and Tim McManus picking up the assists. Goalie Jacob Sofronas turned away 27 shots in the setback.
Winthrop 1, Beverly 0: The visiting Vikings snapped a scoreless tie with under six minutes to go in the third period, saddling the Panthers (5-4-2) with a disappointing conference loss despite getting 36 shots on net. Junior goalie Tyler Chin-Aleong was sharp for Beverly, making 31 saves.
Gloucester 6, Peabody/Saugus/Swampscott 4: Down four goals after one period, the Tanners (4-5-1) rallied with four of their own in the middle stanza before the host Fishermen iced it with an empty netter. Jake Kelly, Artie O’Leary, Matvey Stupnikov and Mason Laine had the goals for P/S/S.
Bishop Feehan 7, Bishop Fenwick 0: Taking part in their first of four Catholic Central League contests, the Crusaders (6-7) hung tough for the better part of two periods, trailing by only two before the wheels fell off. Starter Jackson Phillips made 28 saves over two-plus periods before Felix Langlois came on for the final 12 minutes and turned aside a dozen shots.
GIRLS SKIING
Masconomet sweeps two races: Hannah Mitchell finished second overall among all racers Wednesday at Bradford Ski Area in a time of 23.26 seconds and, according to head coach Ryan Quinn, “showed why she’s one of the elite racers in the North Shore Ski League, the most competitive league in the state” as the Chieftains toppled both North Andover (84-51) and Manchester Essex (85-50). Teammate Emily Stearns (23:32) also had a spectacular day on the slopes. Sophomore dynamo Erin Daly also had a terrific race (24:47), with Ada Paglierani (24.62) and Violet Malinowski (24.86) rounding out the top five finishers for Masco.
Hamilton-Wenham wins, ties: Maren McCaughey led the Generals down the slopes in a time of 24.15 as her team bested Andover (69.5 to 65.5) and wound up tied with Haverill (67.5 to 67.5). Molly Ryan (24.55) placed second for Hamilton-Wenham, with both Evie Bernard and Sydney Smith finishing with identical 24.69 times.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Danvers 54, Manchester Essex 45: Improving to 10-1 with this non-league victory, the Falcons shook off a sluggish start, where they allowed 18 first quarter points, and took the lead by halftime and pulled away over the final two frames. Sienna Goldberg was a sparkplug off the bench with her energy and drawing a big charging foul in the fourth quarter. Angie Djoko again led the offense with 15 points and 14 rebounds for Danvers, with Kayda Brown adding 13 points and six rebounds. Annabel Boyd finished with nine points, five assists and three steals, Sienna Lynch had nine points and six rebounds, and Lila Flynn added six points, nine boards and five steals.
Ipswich 55, Winthrop 51: Victoria Eaton’s 20 points and five assists enabled the Tigers (6-6) to pull off a big win Tuesday night. Reagan McPartlin added nine points while Julia Hubbard added eight in a strong all-around performance. Jade Deacon had four big fourth quarter points for Ipswich to go along with eight total rebounds.

Pingree 63, Governor’s Academy 57: Junior Jordan Maxson scored 27 points and Sami Welsh added 19 as the Highlanders (now 4-6) brought home a road victory.
GIRLS TRACK
Beverly 78, Winthrop 6: The Panthers (now 4-2) rolled behind first place finishes from Grace Williams, who earned a personal best in the mile (5:48.8) and Lidia Miedema in the shot put (32 feet 1 1/2 inches). Other strong showings included winners Mackenzie Pouliot in the 1000 (3:21.4), Chloe Bossler in the 2-mile (13:21) and Ashley Wallace in the 600.
Amesbury 70, Hamilton-Wenham 28: Captain Grace Rich broke the Generals’ school record in the 1000, running 3:05.25 for the second-fastest time in D5 in the state so far this year. Nikhita Pillai (1:55.05) and Anna Regan (1:55.97) also went 1-2 in the 600.
BOYS TRACK
Beverly 70, Winthrop 16: Charlie Silva and Wes Harville-Fry earned their first wins of the season in the high jump and shot put, respectively, as the Panthers prevailed in their final home meet of the season. Floyd White (dash), Myles Gregory (hurdles), Ethan Holway (300), Charlie Bossler (600), Jackson Oliver (1000) and Santiago Moran (2-mile) also took home victories for the Orange-and-Black.
Masconomet 47, Swampscott 39: The Chieftains prevailed in the final event of the day as the 4×400 relay team of Devlin Dixon, Jack Duvall, Nicco Cefalo and Tim Lull took the top spot. Also claiming victory for Masco were Nathan Laubner (55 hurdles), Lull (300), Duncan Cullinane (1000), Conall Strangman (mile) and Blake Ditchfield (high jump).
Amesbury 70, Hamilton-Wenham 26: Cole Regan clocked 2:40.42, the fastest 1000 time in the state this year in Division 5, and also ran 4:47.58 in the mile in a fine showing. Seth Glidden was third in the mile (4:48.24) while captain Ryan Regan was third in the 1000 (2:48.42) and Will Siegal placed second in the 55 (6.98).
GIRLS HOCKEY
Peabody 4, Medford 0: The Tanners (4-6-1) bounced back with a shutout win on home ice, picking up two valuable points in the standings.
Burlington 4, Masconomet 2: The two goal lead proved again to be the most dangerous in hockey as the Chieftains (3-7) gave up four unanswered in the third period. Freshman Kayleigh LeColst scored both goals for Masconomet with assists from Madie Dupuis, Bella Malloy (two) and Sammy Conley and sophomore Gabby Chiulli came up with 18 saves.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Salem State 60, Worcester State 59: A pair of free throws from Rockport’s Kylie Schrock were the difference as the Vikings won their third straight. Both Shrock and Shakera Fullenwilder had 10 points each off the bench for SSU (8-8), with teammate Ernidia Goncalves scoring 19 points with nine rebounds, five steals and three assists.
MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Worcester State 90, Salem State 75: Raheim Orleans scored 15 points and Tyrese Rho added 14, but they couldn’t prevent the Vikings (now 9-7) from dropping their third straight contest.
