Three-year starter ended career as the CAL Baker MVP. Quad-captain led Amesbury (12-1) to the program’s second Division 7 Super Bowl appearance in three years. Completed 37-of-47 passes (78.7%) for 766 yards and 10 touchdowns, and also ran for 295 yards and 9 more TDs. Had 43 tackles and 2 interceptions defensively. Dove in for the game-winning TD with 10 seconds left to beat Clinton in the Final Four. Completed 7-of-8 passes for 77 yards and ran in a TD against Cohasset in the Super Bowl. Threw for 127 yards and two TDs in a win over two-time defending champion Uxbridge in the quarterfinals. Another 97 passing yards and three total TDs in a first round win over South Hadley. Had two TDs along with a pick-6 defensively against Ipswich. Put up 83 rushing yards, 65 passing yards and four total TDs, while also making a team-high 7 tackles, in a huge win over North Reading. Former Daily News Basketball All-Star entered senior season this winter with 562 career points.
Joe Celia
Amesbury, Sr., RB/S
Only got three carries all of last year, but took a huge step forward to become a featured back and make the All-CAL First Team. Finished second in the area in scoring (128 pts), piling up 746 rushing yards, 364 receiving yards, 17 total touchdowns and 13 two-point conversions. Also had 46 tackles and 2 interceptions defensively. Senior leader helped Amesbury (12-1) win the CAL, and make the program’s second Division 7 Super Bowl appearance in three years. Had 106 receiving yards, 100 rushing yards, two TDs and an INT defensively in a win over two-time defending state champion Uxbridge in the quarterfinals. Another 108 rushing yards on 18 carries in a win over archrival Newburyport on Thanksgiving. Only needed eight totes to pile up 103 yards and a TD in a win over Pentucket. Had 113 total yards and three TDs against Lynnfield, and three tackles for loss (5 total) in a blowout win over Manchester Essex. Three-sport standout also plays basketball and baseball.
Ethan Kirby
Amesbury, Sr., TE/OLB
Dominant pass-rusher ends career a two-time Daily News All-Star and two-time All-CAL First Teamer. The CAL Baker co-Defensive Player of the Year. Quad-captain led Amesbury (12-1) to its second Division 7 Super Bowl appearance in three years. Caught 5 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown, but starred defensively where he had 48 tackles (10 for loss), 3 sacks and both an interception and a fumble recovery. Forced that fumble against archrival Newburyport on Thanksgiving to completely shift momentum of the game. Had seven tackles (one for loss) against two-time defending state champion Uxbridge in the quarterfinals. Another five tackles in the team’s Final Four win over Clinton. Put up six tackles (two for loss) and had both an interception and a pass-breakup against Triton. Another four tackles (two for loss), a sack and a pass-breakup against Manchester Essex.
Ollie Peters
Amesbury, Sr., TE/OLB
Three-year starter went out being named the CAL Baker co-Defensive Player of the Year. Quad-captain led Amesbury (12-1) to its second Division 7 Super Bowl appearance in three years, as well as to a CAL title. Caught 8 passes for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns, and also had a pair of two-point conversions. Did more of his damage defensively, though, finishing with 29 tackles, 6 for loss, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. Forced that fumble and recoverd it himself during the Div. 7 Super Bowl against Cohasset. Recoverd his other fumble and had two tackles against archrival Newburyport on Thanksgiving. Had four tackles (two for loss) against two-time defending state champion Uxbridge in the quarterfinals, then followed with three tackles (one for loss) and a sack against Clinton in the Final Four. Another four tackles against North Reading. Three-sport standout plays basketball and lacrosse.
Jack Miller
Newburyport, Sr., QB/OLB
Had a huge offseason and training camp to both take over the starting QB role and be named captain, and would reward that faith by making the CAL All-Star Second Team. Dual-threat completed 78-of-152 passes for 1,219 yards and 10 touchdowns, and also added a team-high 692 rushing yards on 128 carries with 15 more TDs. Senior leader helped to hold Newburyport (4-7) together after the team lost its first five games. Had 150 rushing yards and four TDs in a win over Revere. Authored an epic 8-minute drive to score the game-winning TD against “Border Battle” rival Triton with 49 seconds left, ending the game with 164 passing yards, 58 rushing yards and 3 total TDs. Had 133 rushing yards, 94 passing yards and 3 total TDs in a win at Lynnfield. Put up 101 rushing yards on 14 carries and 3 TDs against Essex Tech, where he also threw for 171 yards.
Noah Benson
Newburyport, Jr., C/DT
Two-year starter became the leader of an offensive line that had no seniors on it. Tough, durable athlete played every snap on both lines. Junior leader helped to hold Newburyport (4-7) together after the team lost its first five games, finishing the season 4-2 to gain momentum heading into next year. As a team, the Clippers rushed for 1,319 yards on 266 carries (5.0 per), and QB Jack Miller wasn’t sacked much. Helped the team pile up 344 total yards in a big win over “Border Battle” rival Triton, where the Clippers put together an eight-minute game-winning drive to score with 49 seconds left. The team had 301 total yards against Essex Tech, 206 rushing yards against Revere and 188 rushing yards against Lynnfield. Also recorded 20 tackles from the interior of the defensive line. Helped the Clippers hold opponents to just 17.3 points over their last six games. An Honor Roll student.
Steven Harper
Pentucket, Sr., QB/CB
Ends excellent career a two-time Daily News All-Star and two-time All-CAL First Team selection. Broke Pentucket’s single-season records in passing yards and touchdowns last season, and followed with another huge year. Completed 110-of-151 passes (72.8%) for 1,666 yards and 18 TDs, and added 272 yards and 8 more scores rushing. Finished two-year starting career completing 256-of-372 passes (68.8%) for 4,042 yards and 45 TDs. Team captain helped lead Pentucket (7-4) to the Division 6 quarterfinals. A perfect 13-for-13 for 198 yards and 3 TDs in a win over Hamilton-Wenham. Had a 12-for-16, 197-yard and 3-TD day in a win over Newburyport, and a 14-of-22, 201-yard, 2-TD night in a season-opening win over Northeast Metro. Another 256 passing yards and four total TDs against North Reading. Ended career completing 11-of-13 passes for 205 yards and 4 TDs in a Thanksgiving win over rival Triton.
Jackson Miller
Pentucket, Sr., RB/DB
The All-CAL First Teamer made a difference in every phase. Finished with 867 rushing yards on 128 carries (6.8 per), 527 receiving yards on 44 catches, and had 14 total touchdowns. Also the CAL Kinney Special Teams Player of the Year. Team captain led Pentucket (7-4) to the Division 6 quarterfinals. Began the season with 195 total yards, two TDs and the game-winning catch against Northeast. Came out the next week and had the game-clinching interception in a win over Medway. Put up 114 rushing yards, 76 receiving yards and 3 total TDs against Hamilton-Wenham. Another 20 carries for 109 yards and a TD against CAL-champion Amesbury. Had 119 rushing yards and a TD against Essex Tech, then caught 6 passes for 72 yards against eventual state runner-up Norwell in the quarterfinals. Ended season with 96 rushing yards, 93 receiving yards and 3 TDs in a win over rival Triton on Thanksgiving.
Max Cloutier
Pentucket, Sr., OL/DL
Four-year starter did everything the team asked over his career. Stepped in at QB for a handful of games as a freshman, then selflessly moved from WR/H-Back to the offensive line this year to help the team. Ended up being an All-CAL First Team lineman. Team captain helped to lead Pentucket (7-4) to the Division 6 quarterfinals. Made 58 tackles on defense with a handful of sacks. Offensively, threw blocks that helped Pentucket rush for 1,520 yards on 263 carries this year (5.8 per), while also protecting record-setting QB Steven Harper. Led a shutout of rival Triton in Thanksgiving Day victory, while also helping the offense pile up 355 total yards. The Panthers had 468 total yards of offense in a win over Hamilton-Wenham, 360 against North Reading, 321 against Northeast Metro and 303 against Newburyport. Multi-year starter in baseball who hit .242 (15-for-62) with 13 RBI and 7 runs scored last spring.
