SHORY GAP, W.Va. — Frankfort defeated Petersburg, 2-0, Saturday in a Class AA-A Region II semifinal.
The top-seeded Falcons (13-4-3) advance to play Trinity Christian at home Tuesday at 6 p.m. for the region title and a spot in the West Virginia state tournament semifinals.
Liam Orndorff scored both Frankfort goals, which were unassisted, at the 34:27 mark of the first half and with 15:05 to play.
Frankfort keeper Alyn Weaver made one save for the cleansheet. Petersburg’s Garrett Nuzum had 19 stops.
Bishop Walsh 3, Cumberland Valley 0
CUMBERLAND — Jackson Miller tallied a hat trick Saturday to end Bishop Walsh’s season on a high night.
The Spartans finish 10-11-2 under first-year head coach Zach Kocak, a marked improvement from their 4-14 record last season.
Miller made it 1-0 at the half after putting a pass from Carson Hamelin into the back of the net just two minutes into the action.
He found his second goal in the 67th minute, assisted by Anthony Shorto, and he got his third via a Mani Vahedi service in the 79th minute.
Bishop Walsh held a 10-6 edge in shots, and Cumberland Valley earned more corner kicks, 4-2. Both keepers, the Spartans’ James Maybury and Cumberland Valley’s Quinten Cooper, ended with six saves.
