GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Salem sweeps: The Witches took down both Winthrop and Saugus by identical 15-50 scores at Winter Island, with Ivy Meehan the top finisher for her squad. Salem High teammate Yelena Stevick also ran a great race.
Ipswich 26, Georgetown 31: The Tigers had six personal best times to earn their first win of the season led by sisters Annabella and Jasmine Ma. Captain Kameya Perron and senior Sarah Jolliffe also ran strong races for key points.
Highlanders split: Shreve Lloyd came in third overall in 21:54 and Pingree defeated Lexington Christian (18-41) while taking a narrow loss against Newton Country Day (26-30). Quinn Beasley finished fourth overall for the Highlanders (23:32) and Georgia Goodling was fifth in 23:33.
Newburyport 24, Essex Tech 24: Anneliese Albers finished second overall to lead the Hawks at Maudslay State Park. Emily Waters came in fourth while Giulia Bussone was seventh, Savannah Zagoreos finished tenth and Megan Eaton came in 12th.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Salem takes two: Nolan Dailey, Eden McClain, and Rylan Workman all turned in excellent performances for the Witches, who defeated both Winthrop (23-34) and Saugus (16-47) on their home course.
Ipswich 21, Georgetown 34: All three Ipswich seniors placed in the top seven in their final home race at Crane Beach with Ryan Jones leading the way with a race wining time of 18:31. Senior Alex Young placed third (20:17) with junior Benji Lochtefeld fourth in 20:25. Sophomore CJ Jolliffe (20:57) and senior Ane Tshibambe (21:31) also ran well.
Newburyport 17, Essex Tech 44: Luke Emberly (fifth) and Charles Rowe (sixth) finished close together and were the top finishers for the Hawks. Chris Dockery, Quinn Sanger and Charles Baldasarri all ran well for Essex Tech in the road meet.
Pingree splits: On the 5K course at home, Pingree defeated Lexington Christian (29-30) but fell to Bancroft (25-24). The Highlanders’ top runners were Will Coughlin (2nd overall, 17:22), Christian Marsh (4th, 19:27) and Matthew Bless (5th, 20:40).
GIRLS SOCCER
St. Mary’s Lynn 3, Bishop Fenwick 2: Early goals by Julia Jin and Maeve O’Donnell put the Crusaders (3-3-1) ahead by a pair, but the Spartans rallied on a natural hat trick by Sophie Skabeikis.
Pingree 2, Dana Hall 0: Emma Gilpin continued her strong start to the season with another goal and Sydney Rech also scored as the Highlanders improved to 3-1 overall. Andi Ferry added an assist and goalkeeper Julia Bradley made 12 saves to earn her first shutout of the season.
Danvers 3, Peabody 0: Ali and Lila Doucette each had goals and Danvers (6-2) cracked open a stalemate with three scores in the final 11 minutes at home. Rylee Sullivan also scored with two assists each from Emma Sutherland and DeAnna Figueiredo. For the Tanners (1-7-1), Emma Wardle played well in the midfield as did Zelie Campbell and Brielle Broughton. Olivia Ball was strong in net.
BOYS SOCCER
Danvers 4, Peabody 0: Connor DiTomaso had a goal and an assist and the Falcons had a fairly dominant win on the road turf at Coley Lee Field. Luca Tirella opened the scoring in the first few minutes while Drew Godfried also scored and Gianluca Locilento converted a PK earned by Caniccy Charles. Keeper Zach Cotter had the shutout for Danvers and Jack Chronis, Luke Hertigan, Braden Serino and Kyle Sillars performed solidly in the back.
Winthrop 2, Salem 0: Despite strong play from goalkeeper Max Warren, senior captain Guywintz Jules in the back, and freshman Ilan Marmo, the Witches fell to 4-3-1 after a road loss to their Northeastern Conference Baker counterparts.
Bishop Fenwick 1, St. Mary’s Lynn 1: Hector Jimenez had the goal for the Crusaders in a hard fought CCL draw. Marcus Simon earned an assist.
VOLLEYBALL
Salem 3, Winthrop 0: Senior captain Annie Thornett had a career high 11 kills and added six digs while junior Gueladio Bah tallied six aces on 100 percent serving while adding four kills as the Witches improved to 5-3. Liv Loux, a senior, was stellar in the third set as her two kills giving Salem the win. Fellow senior Aniya King added four kills and three aces on 91 percent serving.
FIELD HOCKEY
Pingree 5, Dana Hall 0: Senior captain Julia Nagle had the game of her career with two goals and two assists as the Highlanders (4-2) captured their third straight win. Tatum White added a goal and one assist; Lucy Bush and Kayuri Patel each had one goal; Sara Graves and Lucia Ranaldi both chipped in with an assist, and goalies Piper Davekos and Katie Daniels (1 save) combined for the shutout.
GOLF
Masconomet 49.5, Beverly 22.5: In a battle of Northeastern Conference heavyweights, the Chieftains stayed unbeaten (7-0-1) as Cole Velardo shot even par 36 to win his match at No. 1. Brendan Sheehan’s elite two-under 34 saw him prevail at No. 2, while Cooper Wassung, Brendan O’Connor (38), Blake Ditchfield, Thomas Maher (39) and Hayes Maher were also triumphant.
Senior Henry Robinson had the lone victory for Beverly (7-3), which had its five-match winning streak snapped.
Lynn English 46, Salem 26: The Witches got wins from both Alyson Gill (5 1/2 to 3 1/2) and Nate Lane (6 1/2 to 2 1/2) in a non-league setback.
St. John’s Prep 224, Danvers 271: Senior Jack Carew’s low score of 35 at Ipswich Country Club enabled the Eagles (now 7-1) to win going away. Classmate Cam Coppen was right behind him with a 36, with senior Cole Cullen and juniors Seamus O’Holleran and Cullen Pasterick all carding 38’s. Junior AJ Bondar added a solid 39 in the win.
COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY
Endicott 3, Southern Maine 1: The No. 23 ranked Gulls improved to 6-1 overall and Tori Swanson and Reagan Hicks each scored their seventh goals of the season.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
Emmanuel 3, Salem State 0: Celia Carbone notched 15 assists and Sabina Kamanda led the way in kills with nine but Salem State fell to 5-8 while being swept.
Endicott 3, Regis 1: Ava Grace Dresback had 15 kills and Hannah Maguire handed out 30 assists to help the Gulls even their season record at 5-5.
Gordon 3, UNE 1: Annika Schmitt had a busy night with 50 assists and Haley Hutzler (16), Annie Zimmerman (14) and Teagan Brideweser (13) all finished in double digits in kills for Gordon.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER
Endicott 2, Wheaton 1: Danvers native Samantha MacCormack earned the win in net and the Gulls (4-4-1) came from behind thanks to second half goals by Alyssa McColl (penalty kick) and Emma Spear.

Salem State 3, Gordon 2: Iago De Sousa-Vieira scored the game-winning goal with under seven minutes to play as Salem State won a barnburner after Stephane Fevry scored twice in the second half to erase a 2-0 Gordon lead. Benny Simpson and Zach Hutt scored for the Scots.
