BLOOMINGTON — A Garrett County woman died Saturday when her vehicle struck a concrete wall on state Route 135 near Bloomington, the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office said.
Isabel Grace Pilcher, 22, of Oakland, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened about 8:15 p.m.
Sheriff Bryson Meyers said Pilcher was traveling east and failed to negotiate a right turn in the road, hitting the wall head-on.
The wall is at the bottom of a steep grade from Backbone Mountain and has been the scene of numerous fatalities over the years.
The Bloomington Volunteer Fire Department, Tri-Towns EMS and Potomac Fire Company also responded.
