The Town of Cambria has announced a special town board meeting next Thursday at 7 p.m. at town hall to appoint a new town supervisor.
The town board voted to accept the resignation of Supervisor Jon T. MacSwan at a public hearing Aug. 14. MacSwan said he decided to step down due to health concerns and a desire to spend more time with family. MacSwan said he has been working with deputy supervisor Randy Roberts to manage the transition.
Roberts said the meeting on Thursday will not include public discussion. The board will convene the meeting, Roberts said, and immediately go into executive session.
“There’s been little to no talk with the board at this point,” Roberts said of discussion on who would be considered a candidate for interim supervisor.
Roberts declined to name any candidates for the role. He said the board will come out of executive session Thursday, ask for a motion for an appointee, and then vote.
The interim supervisor would fill the position from Sept. 1. until the next election in November 2026.
