To the editor:
The Newbury Town Library would like to thank the community for their generous donations for our third annual food drive benefiting the First Parish Newbury Food Pantry.
Held each July, this year the community donated 254.9 pounds of needed items – 100 pounds more than we collected last July! The First Parish Newbury Food Pantry has grown from serving a single person in December 2015 to feeding over 750 people each Friday.
It is the largest all-volunteer food pantry in the Greater Newbury/ Newburyport area serving our neighbors who live or work in the seven communities of Newbury, Newburyport, West Newbury, Salisbury, Rowley, Ipswich and Georgetown.
The First Parish Newbury Food Pantry relies on the generosity, time and talents of over 250 volunteers to fulfill the first part of their mission: supplying nutritious food to individuals and families in need. Providing ways for residents to help their neighbors comprises the second component of their mission and they take it just as seriously.
You can help by volunteering, making a donation or organizing a food drive. Get started by calling them at 978-358-1077 or email info@newburyfoodpantry.org.
