Bradford native and former Phillips Andover basketball star Dallion Johnson is headed to Sweden to continue his career as a professional.
The Norrköping Dolphins signed the 24-year-old Johnson earlier this week.
Johnson possibly had a job with an NBA team, working as a low-level assistant, but couldn’t apparently turn down the opportunity to continue to play.
Johnson is one of eight new players on the team, coached by Adam Engström, who said the local product has all of the key ingredients they were looking for in a guard — speed, long-range shooting and creativity.
“Dallion is a player that we got caught up in early on in our recruitment process and we are incredibly happy that we managed to connect him with us,” said Engström of the recent Florida Gulf Coast University grad who transferred from Penn State.
“He is a point-scoring guard with an ability to read the game both with and without ball. His strength lies above all in the three-point shooting – a quality we have actively sought in our quest to sharpen our offense.”
In his final season at FGCU, Johnson averaged nearly 15 points per game and hit over 100 three-pointers, which show efficiency and reliability according to Engström.
“We get a hungry, smart and tough guard with a high ceiling, which will fit perfectly into the way we want to play,” said the coach. “We look forward to following his journey with us – and to taking the next step together.”
