Yet to lose a match in the MVC in his two varsity campaigns. Posted memorable marathon, three-set win over Arlington to decide Division 1 state playoff opener. “A complete player with a devastating drop shot and a superior tennis IQ. Has an innate ability to make adjustments within a match,” said coach David Hughes.

Central Catholic Senior
Four-year varsity player. Outstanding leader and captain. First-team All-Merrimack Valley Conference selection. Went 9-3 at first singles in the league to earn it. Was second-team All-MVC at second singles as a junior. Had thrilling three-set comeback win vs. Lowell. “Self-sacrifice for his sport and the team made him special. Leadership both in words and actions helped set the example for the team,” said coach Niall Shanahan. Will play tennis at Gordon.

Continues to be a rising star on court. Makes it two for two on our Eagle-Tribune All-Star Team. First-team All-Merrimack Valley Conference choice at No. 1 singles. Was a second-teamer at second singles a year ago. Well-round student-athlete for sure. “Not only a great player but an outstanding student, a wonderful person and an Eagle Scout,” said coach Derrick Williams.

Wang is just a sophomore, but he’s a two-year varsity player. Ryan burst on the scene in this his freshman year. The two teamed at first doubles to gather first-team All-Merrimack Valley Conference honors. Together they reached the state individual quarterfinals. Posted huge win in playoff Round of 16 battle against Acton-Boxborough. Earned USTA Sportsmanship honors. “Matt and Ryan made a quick transition to learning the doubles game this season. Both are lefties which can cause headaches for opponents. Steady in the back-court and can finish points at net,” said coach David Hughes. Furlong plays hockey in the winter.
