Gloucester hockey standout and recent graduate Chris Dailey was an irreplaceable captain, beloved teammate and overall exemplary young man.
His recent passing following a tragic car accident last Monday morning has left the Cape Ann community in utter shock and devastation.
Over the weekend, the Gloucester High School Hockey Boosters announced they have made the decision to retire his No. 18 jersey forever.
“Gloucester Fishermen Hockey is devastated at the loss of our teammate and friend,” read the GHS Hockey Boosters Facebook post. “Chris was a superior captain and teammate, loved and respected by everyone with a smile that could light up the locker room. He had true friendships across all classes in our hockey program and in our school.
“He was engaging, bright and full of love for his teammates and the sport of hockey. He played the game with speed and intensity and a toughness that had no equal. We have received tributes of respect from many opposing coaches and teams. His legacy will inspire many Gloucester hockey players to come.
“As a tribute to Chris, we will be retiring #18. His jersey will be hung at Talbot to honor his memory.
“Love, Gloucester High School Hockey.”
