Cumberland County Veterans Service Office invites the veteran community to join the June coffee, donuts and a presentation June 26.
Cumberland Fellowship will be hosting the free event from 8-10 a.m. The church is located at 1640 West Ave in Crossville.
The presentation will be “Planning Your Legacy” — a guide provided by the VA to help veterans and their families prepare for the future.
The program will teach about how to prepare next-of-kin documents, understand benefits and take proactive steps using the VA’s “Planning Your Legacy” materials.
Materials will be provided, and the VSO encourages veterans to bring personal documents to begin building a customized legacy packet — a valuable product that can be saved and updated over time.
Examples of documents to bring include: DD214, Marriage License, Divorce Decree, life insurance or bank account information and any other legal documents that may help a family complete important forms in the future.
“We’re honored to share this essential information to help you and your loved ones be better prepared in times of need,” said the VSO. “Even if you don’t need this now, we encourage you to attend — you might one day pass along this knowledge to another veteran or family member.”
