An 11-year-old girl was taken to Oshei Children’s Hospital after the e-scooter she was operating was struck by a car at Marine Memorial Drive and 100th Street on Sunday afternoon.
Niagara Falls police say the crash occurred about 5:20 p.m. Sunday. A 2020 Toyota was heading south on 100th Street and as the 44-year-old driver crossed the intersection with Marine Memorial Drive she struck the e-scooter. Police noted the car had the right of way at the time.
The girl operating the e-scooter wasn’t wearing any protective gear and suffered severe head and leg injuries. Niagara Falls firefighters rendered aid at the scene and she was rushed to Oshei by the Niagara County Ambulance Service and immediately taken into surgery. Her condition wasn’t available Sunday morning.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured and is cooperating in the investigation by the Crash Investigation Unit.
