Sam Schepens and Nikki Carr, both Swampscott High student-athletes, have been named the Male and Female Tennis Players of the Year in the Northeastern Conference.
Schepens, who went a perfect 12-0 in NEC play, was one of 10 players chosen for the All-Conference team. Seven of them came from league champion Marblehead: Etan Farfel (1st singles), Matthew Sherf (2nd singles), Jayden Janock (3rd singles), Anthony Vizy and Ty Cooper (1st doubles), and TJ Kelly and Austin Bacon (2nd doubles).
Two players from Masconomet were also named All-Conference: Arjun Shrejakar (2nd singles) and Kai Hurd (Player at Large). In addition, the Chieftains’ Matt Nardone was selected as the NEC Boys Tennis Coach of the Year.
The remaining NEC boys all-stars were Alex Boehning, Quinn Sullivan and Quinn Fletcher of Marblehead; Parker Kurtz, Akash Menon and Justin Saginor of Masconomet; Thomas Menske and Jackson Maker of Beverly; Rylan Workman and Fionn Hanger of Salem; Elijah Stadtlander of Swampscott; Shane Widtfeldt of Gloucester; and Jackson Faber and Joe Disney of Winthrop.
On the girls’ side, Carr helped Swampscott claim the Northeastern Conference Lynch Division crown this spring with a perfect 13-0 record. She and her sister, freshman Lilly Carr (3rd singles), were both selected to the NEC’s All-Conference team.
Masconomet, which won the NEC Dunn Division crown, saw Teagan Skulley (1st singles) and Ria Kundalia (2nd singles) chosen as All-Conference as well. so were Marblehead’s first and second doubles teams of Lani Gilmore and Reese Friedman, plus Josie Reers and Caroline Bruett. Beverly’s Grace Adams and Madison Savage of Danvers were At-Large choices as All-NEC picks.
The NEC Dunn Division girls all-stars were Hannah Pietropaolo, Sienna Anvari and Sophia Donnellan of Masconomet; Sophie Sanidas and Josie Vogel of Danvers; Samara Dosch and Abbie Goodwin of Marblehead; Olivia Devereaux, Ella McAleer and Sophia Gallo of Beverly; and Alexandra Kourtelidis and Tiffany Bettencourt of Peabody.
NEC Lynch Division all-stars included Alyson Gill and Arianna Silot of Salem; Ana Eccles, Ava O’Donnell and Alexia O’Donnell of Swampscott; Keira O’Brien and Esme Sarrouf of Gloucester; Jennifer Tran and Sami Samacchiario of Saugus; and Yudi Arbaiza of Winthrop.
