CLINTON, Iowa — The Danville Dans finished a tough two games at NelsonCorp Field on Thursday.
The Dans lost 7-2 as they were swept in the two-game series.
Danville had a good start to the game as Joshua Martin hit a solo home run in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead, but Clinton tied the game in the first and then would score a run in the third, and two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to put the game away.
Michael Farina had a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning for the Dans, but the LumberKings had a run in the seventh to end the scoring.
Martin, Jorge Santana II and Tanner McMurray each had two hits for Danville, while Jake Bussard took the loss with three strikeouts in four innings. CJ Sturiale had five strikeouts in three innings after Bussard left and Allen Chorga had a scoreless eighth inning.
The Dans return home on Friday to play the Thrillville Thrillbillies at 6:30 p.m., a double header against the Alton River Dragons on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and a Father’s Day matinee against the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp at 4:30 p.m.
