The Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit is looking into an early Monday morning fire at a Town of Wheatfield home.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office reports that it received a 911 call on the fire at 2217 Cayuga Drive at 2:42 a.m.
Deputies arriving at the home reported heavy black smoke coming from the first- and second-floor windows of the home. Deputies were able to determine that the residence was unoccupied.
Fire companies from Bergholz, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, Frontier, St. Johnsburg, and North Tonawanda responded and quickly extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire was unknown later Monday morning, as was the estimated cost of damage.
