Cowden-Herrick teachers have named seniors Lizzie Parks and Tyson Galvin Students of the Month for May.
The Students of the Month are nominated based on academic effort, attitude, participation/contribution, responsibility and service. Junior high and/or high school students are selected each month. They each receive $25 donated by United Fidelity Bank.
Lizzie is the daughter of Shantel and Ryan Parks. She has two siblings, twin sister Lexie and Luke. Lizzie is a member of the Spanish Club, Student Council, National Honor Society and FCA. She plays volleyball for the CHBC Bobcats. Lizzie is a member of the youth group at Celebration Community Church in Pana. She is actively involved in leading music for the VBS Program, playing the piano at her church, a counselor at Rehoboth Baptist Camp and babysitting. Lizzie’s plans are to attend Lake Land College in the fall to become a paraprofessional educator.
Tyson is the son of Josephine Galvin. His immediate family are his brother, Quinton, and grandmother Donna Galvin. He enjoys helping others, art projects and developing games for the computer. Tyson’s future plans are to attend Lake Land College and continue game development.
Cowden-Herrick announced Nicole Giles as Staff Role Model of the Month of May.
The Staff Role Model of the Month is nominated by students, staff and community members. She will receive a $50 cash award donated by Aaron and Devi Hawes on behalf of Lockart & Green Funeral Services.
Nicole is the junior high custodian and a substitute bus driver for Cowden-Herrick CUSD 3A. She enjoys hunting, fishing, crafts and spending time with her husband, six children and four grandchildren. Nicole resides in Beecher City with her husband, Darin.
Cowden-Herrick announced Andrew Nohren as Staff Role Model of the Year.
The Staff Role Model of the Year is selected by junior high and high school staff members. He will receive a $100 cash award donated by Aaron and Devi Hawes on behalf of Lockart & Green Funeral Services.
Nohren teaches Junior High Social Studies, coaches Junior High Track and is the FCA coach. He enjoys coaching track, going to church, kayaking, fishing and camping with his wife. He resides in Herrick with his wife, Kristen, and three children Lincoln, Lydia and Titus.
