A trio of seventh grade girls from the North Shore helped the North Shore Sports Academy Basketball team capture the prestigious Zero Gravity Nationals Basketball Tournament over the weekend.
The NSSA girls, led by locals Alexa Martinez of Danvers as well as Kate Pavey and Lucy Siefkin, both of Swampscott, captured the 7th Grade Division 1 ZG National Finals over a two-day period on the South Shore. They went 4-0 during the tournament, which is comprised of top teams from all over the six-state region. In doing so, NSSA staked their claim as the top 7th grade AAU girls basketball team in New England.
The championship game culminated in a 50-40 victory for NSSA on Sunday night, a game in which they rallied from six points down at halftime.
Now winners of 17 straight games, the NSSA team is wrapping up its season in a few weeks with a trip to play a tournament in New York.
