LAWRENCE — Two state-run pools in the city will open later this month and lifeguards are still needed to staff them.
The hourly wages run from $22 to $27. The state is also offering up to a $750 bonus for those who agree to work as certified lifeguards through Labor Day.
“Our lifeguards spend their summers outside, make good money, and may even get to save some lives. If you are a strong swimmer, who is looking for a summer job, I encourage you to reach out to us and apply today,” said Brian Arrigo, commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.
The Higgins public pool at 180 Crawford St. and the Geisler Pool at 50 High St. open on June 21.
To apply for a lifeguard position, candidates must be at least 16 years old by their date of hire, complete lifeguard training, and be certified in first aid and CPR. DCR is offering a free lifeguard training class June 6-8 in Lynn.
To apply, visit mass.gov/lifeguards.
Lawrence pool hours were restricted last summer due to lifeguard staffing issues.
