PLATTSBURGH — Love, Peace, and Grilled Cheese is partnering with The Cabana Beach Bar at Plattsburgh City Beach to host the Summer Sessions.
The series of events will feature local DJs and musicians every Friday, from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day.
“Our goal is to bring some vibrancy to the North Country’s most under-utilized resource.” David Slominski, Love, Peace, Grilled Cheese owner and co-founding member of SubsoniQ Collective, said.
“We hope to create a weekly event that will grow organically, providing a place for folks to come together and enjoy some of the best life has to offer. Nature, good food, good music and each other.”
The weekly, free, all-ages, celebration of food, music, and community will kick off at 6 p.m, Friday, May 23 at Plattsburgh City Beach.
Music by SubsoniQ Collective, the event features YNOT at 5 p.m., RAFA at 6 p.m. and DAVYJ at 7 p.m.
According to Slominski, along with local music, attendees can expect “delicious food trucks, cold drinks, and good vibes for the whole family,”
In 2024, Greg Larson of The Cabana Beach Bar approached Slominski, with the idea of hosting Friday night beach parties, complete with food and live music.
He had already connected with local DJ Jorge Estrada of Summit Sound, who provided a set of beach-inspired EDM for the first event.
Jorge, having previously collaborated with Slominski for events, introduced DJs Tanner Stanley and Tony Sardella.
Their shared passion for EDM led to the formation of SubsoniQ Collective, a group dedicated to promoting “Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect,” the values “at the heart of electronic music culture.”
After reconnecting with Greg in 2025, the group decided to bring the idea back, but bigger, resulting in “Summer Sessions.”
Greg has spent the off-season remodeling The Cabana Beach Bar to expand its concessions, and it will bring its lactose free soft serve and famous frozen drinks to Plattsburgh City Beach.
The collaboration with SubsoniQ Collective aims to celebrate music, community and the laid-back spirit of summer.
“Our community is amazing. There are so many great people putting their energy into making our area an awesome place to live and we want to celebrate that.” Slominski said.
While EDM is a key element of the series, the organizers are committed to curating a diverse lineup of performers.
Singer-songwriters, acoustic acts and beachy genres will all be featured.
According to Slominski, Summer Sessions isn’t about big crowds, or big expectations, it’s about enjoying the moment, building community and celebrating summer nights by the water.
