Russell Petrozzi was elected to his sixth term on the Niagara Falls Board of Education, along with fellow incumbent Clara Dunn, on Tuesday.
Petrozzi and Dunn were facing four challengers for the two open seats on the school board. Petrozzi finished first in voting with 880 votes while Dunn finished with 740 votes.
Peter Murray led the challengers with 644 votes. He was followed by Dwayne Gaczewski Jr. (287), Lawrence Blaber Jr. (197) and Jockline Pryor (142).
Niagara Falls voters overwhelmingly approved the 2025/26 school budget by a vote of 1,281 to 257.
All results are unofficial until the Board of Education votes to accept them tonight.
Lewiston-Porter
Chris Bragdon, Susan Rhodenizer and Annie Huntington were elected to the school board, according to published reports.
Steven Tarnowski and Carl Turner were also among the candidates for the three open seats.
The district’s $55.8 million school budget was approved as was a proposition to transfer ownership of the Lewiston Police Department building on school property to the Town of Lewiston, according to published reports.
Niagara-Wheatfield
Incumbent Robert McDermott and former school board member Steve Sabo were elected to the school board Tuesday, according to published reports. Vernon Lohan finished third in voting.
The district’s $91 million school budget was approved as were three propositions on the ballot, according to published reports.
North Tonawanda
City residents voted 457-157 to approve the district’s $83 million 2025/26 school budget.
The Capital Reserve and Transportation Reserve proposition was approved by a vote of 480-130.
Dennis Garland was the top vote-getter in the school board election for four open seats, receiving 446 votes. He was followed by Melissa Kimbrell (445), Chloe Mulvaugh (452) and Jeffrey Zellner (316) who were all elected to the board.
Candidate James Hutton finished fifth in voting with 297 votes.
